Alejandro Ortega Contact meCFA, MAAA
Alejandro was Chief Actuary for AIG's Latin America operations from 2009 - 2015 with responsibility for loss reserves under both local statutory and US GAAP Regulation in 15 countries. He also provided support for capital management in these countries, and was actively involved in 3 M&A opportunities.
Prior to this role he priced large individual accounts in Los Angeles. He was also a product manager for homeowners insurance in Nevada and New Mexico at Farmers Insurance. In all of these roles Alejandro had provided in house training to his peers and to management, both in English and Spanish.
He has presented at CAS conferences (CLRS and RPM) as well as actuarial conferences in Mexico City, Cancun, and Bogota.
He graduated from the California Institute of Technology in 2000 with a B.S. in Mathematics. He also studied finance and programming while an undergraduate. In addition to an FCAS, he also received the CFA designation in 2007. Alejandro lives in Miami, Florida.
Alejandro recently left his role at AIG to embark on a 3 year project to focus on training actuaries in Latin America, with instruction in Spanish.
